A Love Note to Winter

Recently, I’ve found myself dreaming about summer a little too much. Like a lot of people, I spend most of summer yearning for winter and winter looking forward to summer. I missed out on a lot of summer 2011/2012 due to being overseas.  While I did spend a couple of stinkin’ hot weeks in southern Mexico, America and the northern parts of Mexico in December and January were freakin’ freezing!

In the back of my mind, I’ve already started planning this summer – summer dresses, icy-poles, trips to the river and the beach, etc. etc. etc. Not anymore! I have made a little pact with myself to spend the rest of winter focusing on all of the indoorsy things that I really love about winter. Snuggling up on the couch with a good book, drawing, baking, doing crafty projects.

It’s so lovely to spend the day doing some drawing.

The other day we made these delicious grapefruit yoyos! They are just the same as my passionfruit melting moments, but with ruby grapefruit instead of passionfruit. So delish!

I’m currently reading this book. While I’m only about half way through, so far I am really enjoying it!

And as always, sewing is my favourite way to spend a wintery afternoon.

I'm also a bit excited to be spending the rest of today listening to this

Tomorrow we're heading off to another one of my favourite winter things - the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces

I'm Homeeee!

After over two months of Mexican adventures I am finally back home. More on my travels later of course! I'm beginning a completely new course at a completely new university this coming Monday and yet, despite the fact that my things-to-do-before-I-start-uni list is approximately ten miles long, I can't seem to bring myself to do anything that doesn't involve sitting outside and drinking my new favourite - DIY fresh peppermint tea. It's been a wonderful trip, but I sure am glad to be home. In fact, if I never left St. Andrews again, I don't think I would mind one bit.

to sassafras!

Yesterday was a little too hot for my liking, so we decided to head up into the Dandenongs for the day, where the air was lovely and cool. We bushwalked, picnicked and fed crimson rosellas!

Along the way we made a stop at Sassafras. We went to the hilarious Miss Marple's Tea House. I am a bit of an Agatha Christie fan from way back. I spent far too much of my late childhood reading Miss Marple novels, so I found the tea house particularly funny.

Sassafras is also home to Tea Leaves - a beautiful shop packed full of every kind of tea you can imagine, as well as lots of lovely teapots and teacups!

The Dandenongs are less than an hour's drive from Melbourne and are just the most lovely place to go for a day trip!

Yesterday was the perfect, lovely, sunny spring day. In fact, it was too perfect to not spend it ridin’ about on a bicycle. So that’s just what we did!

Just being a pro at the velodrome.

and yay for the prettiest Spring days ending in the prettiest sunsets!
