I'm Homeeee!

After over two months of Mexican adventures I am finally back home. More on my travels later of course! I'm beginning a completely new course at a completely new university this coming Monday and yet, despite the fact that my things-to-do-before-I-start-uni list is approximately ten miles long, I can't seem to bring myself to do anything that doesn't involve sitting outside and drinking my new favourite - DIY fresh peppermint tea. It's been a wonderful trip, but I sure am glad to be home. In fact, if I never left St. Andrews again, I don't think I would mind one bit.

Goodbye St. Andrews

So my bag is finally packed and I am ready to head off on my big trip tomorrow morning. I am feeling more nervous than excited at the moment, but am hoping that will all change when I hop on the plane. I'm rather sad to be leaving St. Andrews and so many of my beloveds - even if it is only for two months! I'm hoping that all of these lovely passionfruits, apricots and apples will be ready upon my return, and my dear old pup won't have forgotten who I am!

So goodbye St. Andrews, I will miss you!

hey there four eyes

So last week my fears were confirmed: I am as blind as a bat. Well, not really, but I do need glasses! And not just reading glasses; all the time glasses! Here’s what I have learned about glasses:

1 - you actually need to wear glasses
Well duh of course you do. But then you have to choose your glasses. My initial browsing told me that all glasses are designed for either a. bank managers, or b. black-clad fellows who shop at Alphaville and hang about inner-city suburbs. Of course, I decided to go with the latter, as well, it’s better than the alternative. I soon realised, however, that no matter what glasses I get, I will look like a librarian... could be worse.

2 - I can seeeee
ohmygosh I can seeeee! I never even realised that I couldn’t see before. I just thought it was normal. I put my headaches down to an iron deficiency I was too scared to address and left it at that. Now I’m wandering about the place saying things like “ooh what a nice TV we have” and “oh gosh my windscreen IS dirty”.

So the moral of the story is, get yo’ eyes tested!

oh my gosh i love spring + bicycles

Yesterday was the perfect, lovely, sunny spring day. In fact, it was too perfect to not spend it ridin’ about on a bicycle. So that’s just what we did!

Just being a pro at the velodrome.

and yay for the prettiest Spring days ending in the prettiest sunsets!

sick sick sick

It seems that all my bragging about excellent vegan immune systems has caught up with me. Today I found myself cooped up inside with a big ol'cold. Not good. I soon decided, however, that being sick really isn't that bad at all when you get to spend the day:

reading reading reading

hanging out in bed with lil Flinnette

taking a bubble bath!

watching a DVD or two

painting a picture of my fave boy

and watching it rain rain rain

In fact, I wish I was sick every day!

finished!

So I've finally finished uni. It's such a strange time and I have such mixed feelings. Part of me is glad it's all over and another part of me is sad - like I didn't make the most of it. This is what I've been working to for the part three years - a little BA to put at the end of my name. I did a Bachelor of Arts, with a double major in linguistics and art history. Above all, I'm looking forward to having time to just do whatever I feel like, without feeling guilty.

These are the things I'm most looking forward to:

Reading!
Of course, doing a Bachelor of Arts, I've spent a huge part of the last three years reading. I often felt like it was impossible to keep up to date with all the weekly readings. When I did read books for my own pleasure, I usually felt guilty, like I should be doing my recomended readings instead. As a result, I haven't read nearly as much as I would have liked to over the past few years. I have a huge list of classics that i can't wait to get into!

Cooking!
So I've been vegan for quite some time now. I'm really lucky to have a family who supports me in my choices. Everyone is always happy to make a special vegan alternative for me. But as a result of this, I haven't done nearly as much cooking as I should have. I get home from uni/work late and someone has usually already made dinner. But now that i have more time on my hands, I'm really looking forward to having time to improve my cooking skills, both savoury meals and yummy cakes and desserts!

Drawing!
I loveee to draw. I find it so relaxing and rewarding. I draw a bit, but not nearly as much as I’d like to. I’m really hoping to improve my painting skills as well.

Blogging!
I’ve decided that I am really going to commit to this blog. I really like the idea of having a little online journal and I really want to keep writing. What I write may not be of the best quality, and it may not be read by anyone, but I think it is so important to keep writing.

hey there

So I’ve decided to start a blog. I want to share my thoughts, ideas, drawings, yummy vegan recipes and things I make and do. Will anyone read it? Probably not, but I like the idea of making a kind of visual diary and putting it out there - just in case.
