Oh Linda

One of my favourite ways to waste time is by gazing away at pretty pictures of pretty ladies from yesteryear. I’m currently a little bit in love with the late sixties Linda Ronstadt. I love how she was always getting around in bare feet and how she wore the same dress at The Bitter End, and then again on the Johnny Cash Show a year later. Rumour has it that she turned up to play the show sans underwear, but June Carter wouldn’t let her go onstage until someone went and bought her some undergarments. Tooo funny.

Frida Kahlo

I am heading to Mexico at the end of the year, and as my trip draws nearer, I am getting more and more interested in all things Mexican! I have loved Frida Kahlo forever, but am getting so excited about having the opportunity to visit her house and see the country which is so strongly represented in her work. I think that, like most people, I am just as interested in Frida Kahlo the person as I am with her actual work, so visiting her house, which has been preserved as a museum, should be such a treat!

Peppermint!

Yippee I finally tracked down a copy of Peppermint Magazine issue 6! I know it’s been out for a few weeks now, but none of the newsagents in my area seem to have it. It would kind of defeat the purpose if I was to drive out of my way to get it, so I decided to wait until I was going into the city anyway. I love it. It’s almost replaced Frankie as my favourite magazine! I think it’s so important that we live our day to day lives with the environment in mind. The best part is that it inspires us to live ethical and environmentally friendly lives, without compromising on looking lovely. Very important for us narcissists with a conscience!

I really enjoyed the article about Mark Boyle, a man who has been living for the last 18 months without any money! So inspirational. I was thinking about joining his freeconomy, but I don’t really have any skills, or things people would want to borrow. I guess it would be good to join anyway. I’m definitely going to buy his book, The Moneyless Man, though.
